Our newest venue open
The Derwent Entertainment Centre’s main function/breakout room has undergone state of the art renovations resulting in a new venue and identity, The Astley Room.
Venue Manager Emily Wills saw the importance of breaking away from the image of a large entertainment centre and sought out a new identity for the wedding, conference and private function market.
“The reality is no one really thinks of a large entertainment centre having the capability to host weddings, intimate dinners, or smaller conferences and why would you? It has been something we’ve been able to do for a long time but people don’t really see the connection between the DEC and a wedding so we created a new venue concept to show people it can be done!”
The Astley Room is a venue within a venue featuring unique ceiling structures, brand new AV equipment and exquisite catering provided by the renowned Olive Tree Catering. The room offers an abundance of natural light, a private courtyard, separate bar area and unlimited free parking. With direct access to GASP! Boardwalk and Wilkinson’s Point this versatile venue has already attracted a lot of interest with bookings on the increase.
“We have seen a large increase in wedding bookings for the next financial year after unveiling the venue a few months ago at the Pure Bride Exhibition and our conference and events bookings are also on the way up” said Miss Wills.
Whilst the main room is complete, there are further developments to come for this exciting new northern suburbs venue. A complete bar refurbishment is in progress which will provide an even more intimate setting for cocktail style celebrations and compliment the main function space. The versatile room will also be capable of hosting live entertainment on a smaller scale compared to the main arena.
